About Me
If you could travel back in time to over 15 years ago, you would probably find me at a Taco Bell. There you would see me sitting at a table, eating 3 soft tacos with extra cheese, extra sour cream and nachos, while wearing a baggy sweatshirt to hide the consequences. I was unfit, unhealthy, and unhappy with the way I looked and felt about myself. If I had to run a mile to save my life, I would have died.
So, I decided to take the first step towards leading a healthy lifestyle by joining a gym. Looking back, it was probably the best decision of my life. Over the next 3 or 4 months, by gradually making changes to my diet and exercise habits, I was able to transform myself from someone who was unconfident and sedentary to a confident woman who believed anything was possible with a little hard work. I lost about 30 pounds and it felt fantastic to see actual muscle definition where fat used to be.
Today you will find me doing things that 10 years ago I would never have dreamed that I could do. I have become an avid hiker over the last few years, culminating in my completion of Kauai’s Kalalau Trail – a 22-mile round trip hike with 5000 feet of elevation gain, regarded as one of the world’s top 10 most challenging and dangerous hikes by the Sierra Hiking Club. In addition to hiking, I have developed a love for competing in different races and events. I completed my first triathlon in 2009 and have been competing annually in them since. During the summer I participate in various 5k and 10k runs as well as several bike-a-thons.
All of these accomplishments would have been impossible for me if I hadn’t taken that first step to change my life many years ago. After experiencing such a wonderful transformation in mind, body, and spirit, I decided that I wanted to share the same sense of empowerment, confidence, and self-esteem with others while helping them to achieve their own fitness goals. There is nothing better than helping a client improve their health and fitness. That’s why I chose to become a personal trainer.
The most important concept to understand when it comes to training is to know that little steps are what lead to big changes. It doesn’t happen overnight. I didn’t lose 30 pounds and become a hiker and a triathlete in a day. But by swapping out Taco Bell for home cooked meals and by gradually increasing the intensity and frequency of my workouts, I was able to achieve my goals. It is my mission to help you do the same. By setting realistic goals, assisting you with nutrition and dieting, and developing a fun variety of workout routines, I can help you get to where you want to be. All you need to do is take the first step. Call 516-987-2358 to set up a free fitness consultation!
